WHARF FATALITY
NAVAL ACCIDENT UNLOADING OF SHELLB WORKER CRUSHED BY A BOX Fatal injuries were received by a naval employee, when he was struck by a case of live shells at a Navy Department wharf yesterday morning. The victim was: —- Mr. George Christie, aged 51, married, of 81 Hobson Street. According to information received by the police the shells were being discharged from a vessel, being loaded into a box, which was,»to be„ lifted, by a crane. Mr. Christie, who was working in the hold of the vessel, was crushed by the box. Mr. Christie was a returned soldier, having served with the Ist New Zealand Cycle Company of tho Ist NewZealand Expeditionary Force. His wife lives at Palmerston North. An inquest will be opened this morning.
