ESCAPED YOUTHS
CAUGHT NEAP, DUNEDIN FOUND WITH STOLEN CAR ABOUT TO RESUME JOURNEY [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN. Tuesday Six youths who escaped from a Borstal institution at Invercargill on Monday night were recaptured on the Taieri to-night by the Dunedin police. • They were in a car which it is alleged was stolen by them. They will appear in the Police Court to-morrow morning. Eight youths escaped from tlie institution after two of them had made a savage attack on a warder, who was hit on the head with a blunt instrument and then locked in a cell. Two of the young men, however, later gave themselves up. Four of the six who travelled north are Maoris and the others Europeans. The Dunedin police received information to-day that the youths were j believed to be in the Taieri district and I detectives went out by car and arrested | them near Outram. They had a car and j were apparently about to leave- for | Central Otago. , I-/ •
