GIFT TO UNIVERSITY
SIR G. FOWLDS' PAPERS A valuable collection of letters, notes of addresses and other papers from the estate of the late Sir George Fowlds has been presented to the Auckland University College Library. It consists of 150 packages, and in making the gift the relatives said they had been approached to lodge the papers in the Parliamentary Library, but preferred to give them to the collego, in view of Sir 'George's close association with it. L. ... "The whole collection will . provide valuable material for . historical research," said 'the president of the college, Mr. W. H. -Cocker, in accepting the gift at a meeting of the council yesterday. "It will be ; of great assistance to those interested in the social and political history of New Zealand. Much of the correspondence was witn persons of eminence within and beyond New Zealand on matters of public interest." . . . . , The library committee was instructed to arrange for the " proper care an housing of the papers.
