BIRKENHEAD AFFAIRS
It was decided by the Birkenhead Borough Council at their last meeting to increase the wages of the staff not under an award by 5 per cent. It was decided to forward a letter of sympathy to the parents of Pilot-Officer R. J. Cronan, who was recently reported killed in action. It is believed that 1 this is the first resident of the borough to be killed since the outbreak of war.
