NEW MUNICIPAL BLOCK
CEREMONY AT ROTORUA [bt telegraph OWN correspondent] ROTORUA, Thursday
Confidence that the final cost of tho Rotorua municipal buildings would be close to the contract price of £39,770 was expressed by the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, at a meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council last evening. It was confidently anticipated that revenue from the buildings would exceed that estimated.
The buildings will be opened tomorrow afternoon by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan. The Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Leo Martin, also will be present. The block comprises council offices, a library and museum, a concert chamber to accommodate 350, and a picture theatre seating over 1000. One unusual feature is the utilisation of thermal heat for the central - heating system.
