ASSAULT ON WOMEN
TWO YEARS' DETENTION [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday A sentence of reformative detention for a period not exceeding two years was imposed on Edwin Lewis Bray, aged 25, a labourer, by Mr. Justice Johnston in the Hamilton Supreme Court to-day on charges of doing actual bodily harm to Mrs. Rose Ann Starr and her daughter, Hazel Mary Starr, at Ngaruawahia on June 30. His Honor mentioned that the jury had strongly recommended mercy, but considering prisoner's nervous condition it would not bo fair to the public or to the prisoner himself if he were released.
