INTEREST-FREE LOAN WAR EXPENSES ACCOUNT AUCKLAND FIRM'S GESTURE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Friday The Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, lias received from Smith and Caughey, Limited, Auckland, a cheque for £IO,OOO, being a loan free of interest for the purposes of the War Expenses Account. • In acknowledging this generous assistance, the Minister to-night said ho thought he could best repe.it the donor's expression of the intention behind the loan —nantely, that it might add even more to the spirit with which the war will be fought if all those in a position to do so were to make similar sacrifices in aid of the Old Country, which must necessarily bear the heat and burden of the struggle.
