ROAD SEALING PLANS P " REMOVAL OF STREET LIGHT [from our OWN" correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Friday Reporting to a meeting of the Pukekolie Borough Council, the engineerforeman, Mr. F. 0. Turner, stated that plans and specifications for surface sealing two and three-quarter additional miles of roads in the borough were now complete and before the end of the moiith the way would be open to proceed with arrangements for contracts for seal-' ing in all four miles additional and completing Edinburgh Street as a main highway link. The town clerk, Mr. W. T. Cheeseman, reported that £SOO more in rates had been received so far this financial year than in the corresponding period of last year. The council decided to ask the Railway Department to contribute to the cost of making a footpath in Birch Road, which gives access to a number of railway houses. Mr. Turner's estimato of the costs of the footpath was £I'IG.

Permission was granted for the showing of pictures at the theatre at Pukekohe on Christmas night, details of the programme being submitted and an assurance being given that tho theatre would not open until after church hours. "I would like to know who authorised tho removal of the street light at the corner of John Street and Kitchener Road," said Mr. F. J. Morrow. The deputy-mayor, Mr. G. T. Parvin, said that after consultation with the Power Board engineer ho had authorised tho removal of the. light to Dublin Street as chairman of tho committee concerned. The light would serve far more people in "its new position. Mr. Morrow said ho was a member of the committee and objected to action being taken without the knowledge _of the members. On the Mayor's motion, the question was referred to the committee with po\Ver to act.
