TRAM AND BUS FARES
INCREASE IN WELLINGTON ADDITIONAL £9OOO REVENUE MEETING RISE IN WAGES [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION"] WELLINGTON, Thursday The Wellington City Council, at a special meeting to-day, decided on the recommendation of the Tramways Committee to make an increase in tramway fares to bring in an extra £BOOO yearly and to increase bus fares to realise an additional £IOOO yearly, thus making up the £9OOO which it has been agreed to pay the council's tramways and bus employees. The increase in tram fares consists of confining the existing 2s 6d concession ticket to three sections and the introduction of a new 3s eight-trip ticket for four and five sections. The resolution to increase fares will be forwarded by the city solicitor to the Price Investigation Tribunal for approval.
