FIRE AT HIGH SCHOOL
MANUAL TRAINING BLOCK MUCH EQUIPMENT LOST [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] NAPIER. Wednesday Fire almost totally destroyed the manual training department of the Napier Bipys' High School early this morning. The building, which was erected in 1932 at a cost of about £3OOO, was burned out, and in addition well over £IOOO worth of electric and engineering equipment, as well as appliances for tools for woodwork and plumbing classes, was destroyed. By the time the first fire engine had arrived on the scene the fire had secured a strong hold, particularly in the western section, and the assembly hall near by was threatened, but the brigade Avas able to save it. The building, being wooden, burned fiercely, and the heat was terrific.
