RESULTS OF SPORTS EVENTS*

Many business firms and other organisations held picnics at pleasure resorts near the city during the week-end. The weather on Saturday was ideal, but rain in the? morning marred conditions yesterday and several excursions . were postponed. Remarkable success attended the 32nd annual staff picnic of Clark and Maiheson, Limited, which was held at Motuihi on Saturday. A long programme of sports events was completed and the prizes were presented by Mr. S. 0. Clark on the trip' back to. Auckland.

The Auckland Choral Society hold its first annual picnic on Saturday, about 160 memhers travelling to Motuihi by the Duchess. Sports for children and adults were helcl on the beach. A ladies' tug-of-war between sopranos and contraltos was won by the sopranos, whi'o among the men a team'of basses defeated a team of tenors after each had gained a win.
