Mr. F. R. Picot, Director of Internal Marketing, has left for a tour of several days of the northern gumfields, to discuss with tho producers certain questions relating to the marketing of kauri gum.

Mr. Francis Ro'mayne, Ohura, ha<i been appointed a member of tho Taranaki Land Board for a term ol: two years from February 4, to fill tho vacancy caused by the death of Mr, N. It/ Cleland, of Tahora.

Mr. H. E. Eduley, chairman of tho Napier Chamber of Commerce, who is to leave Napier in May on a tonr abroad, will represent the Napier body at the Empire Chambers of Commerce conference in London in July.

Dr. J. H. L. Cumpston, DirectorGeneral of Health of the Australian Commonwealth, and Mrs. Cumpston. arrived from the south on Saturday, and are staying at the Hotel Careen. They will return to Sydney by the Awatea on Wednesday.

Mr. N. 0. Carlson, manager for Burns, Philp and Company, Limited, at Vavau, arrived by the Matua terday on leave. Mr. Carlson, who vras accompanied by his wife, will remain in the Dominion a fortnight and then will probably visit Australia.
