HAMILTON, Friday Te Rapa stables will be strongly represented to-day at the Waikato Racing Club's Summer Meeting and thev are expected to collect a full measure of prize-money. Midland has shown marked improvement of late in his' work and he is likely to "be seen to better advantage to-morrow than since his encouraging showing in the Trial Stakes at the November meeting. Irish Belle is another who has been showing encouraging form. Prior to the Rotorua meeting, where Tosh won, Irish Belle finished on terms with her stablemato over five furlongs in time which was by far the best of the morning. Among the Hurdlors

Among the jumpers, Te Rapa stables will be represented by Innes Lad, Star Artist, Kittle, Forest Lake and Cynical Smile. Innes Lad has been schooling well, but it is doubtful whether he is back to his best. Kittle indicated at the Matamata fixture that she might not bo long in winning. , She jumps well and possesses more than average speed. Star Artist is not yet a proficient jumper* but her pace on the fiat entitles nor to respect. Cynical Smile has started only twice this season and has been working in promising fashion Fils de Vaals in Trim Fils de Vaals has had little fast work since his success at Ellcrslie, but ho is fully maintaining his condition. In the Storey Memorial Handicap none makes greater appeal than Malagigi. \

Since winning at Matamata Ngawiri has done very well. ' ■ Attractive Action

Dark Shadow has been hitting out attractively, as also has Rollicker, who yesterday showed all his usual brilliance in a solid trial over seven furlongs. He is an acceptor for the Puketaha Handicap and will command a strong following. Forest Acre is another well-conditioned contender for mile honours. In mile and a-quarter events ho lias been feeling the pinch only in the last bit. Royal Bachelor has been given a solid preparation on the roads and has been absent from the tracks during the past week. He thrives on this treatment and he will bear watching. Airam was scratched yesterday for all engagements at the Waikato Racing Club's Summer. Meeting.

The promising novice. Tea Gong, has changed stables at Ellcrslie, and in future will be trained by W. J. Fergus.

Defaulter was shipped to Wellington on Wednesday, and left on Thursday by the Wanganella for Sydney. He was accompanied by his trainer, F. A. Roberts, and Mrs. Roberts, and will ho under the care of H. Burns.

Disdain is to contest the Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield to-day. This is worth ■CI2OO to the winner. Aurie's Star, who won the race in 1037 with 8.4 and was unplaced last year with OA is topweight on this occasion, with 0.12

Lochie River, one of the most promising hack performers produced in Southland this season, broke down in his work last week, and will have to be put aside. When first put into training he had to bo taken along carefully.

While working at Riverton, Lady of Spain, one of A. J. Peart's team, was being ridden out in a gallop and in endeavouring to run away from the whip, struck the rail, which injured her fatally. She was by Balboa from Andante, the dam of Vonite.

A list recently compiled by "Carbine" shows that at the end of .January, the leading sires and the amounts won by their progeny for the first half of the current season were as follows: —Benti Pere, £8105; Vaals, £76-10; Hunting Song, £7588; Lord Quex, £7098, and Defoe, £6017.
