PROGRESS AT GISBORNE 93 PER CENT OF TOTAL LEVIED [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT I GISBORNE, Friday Nearly 93 per cent of the current year's Gisborne Borough rates had been collected by yesterday, which was the firet penalty day, this figure being 1.29 per cent better than at the penalty date last year. In addition over 55 per cent of arrears were collected, also an increase on last year's payments. Of £(38,546 struck by the council for the 1938-39 financial year £63,740 has been paid, this representing 92.99 per cent of the total struck. Up to the first discount day last year £58,301 of the £64,117 struck had been paid, that figure representing 91.709, per cent of the total.
