proprietors protest REFUSAL TO ABIDE BY DECISION [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] • TE KUITI, "Wednesday Taxi proprietors in Te Kuiti, in a letter received at a Borough Council meeting, stated that they had decided that the new by-law fixing Is 6d as the minimum taxi fare tyas unreasonable, and they refused to abide by its provisions. "We regret that the council failed to give any consideration to the representations of the three deputations of taxi proprietors who wasted much time in waiting npon the council in an endeavour to enlighten councillors in reference to the costs and difficulties we have to contend with in the operation of our respective businesses," the letter added. At present the minimum charge is 2s. Councillors agreed that the decision should be adhered to as the matter had been given full consideration and the charges appeared reasonable from the owners' point of view as compared with other country centres.
