SPEEDING MOTORIST
65 MILES AN HOUR DASH [from otto own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Wednesday A 65 miles an hour dash through Ngnruawahia was described by a traffic inspector, Air. N. C. Davenport, in the Police Court to-day, when Lacey Hall, a shop manager, of Auckland, was charged with dangerous driving. Tho inspector said that Hall, who was on his way to the Te Rapa races, passed-him at a terrific speed, which he estimated at from: 65 to 75 miles an hour. Ho went through Ngaruawahia at 65 miles an. hour, and continued beyond the town at a furious pace. "Defendant did noli slow down at bends any more than he absolutely had to," he added. "It took me three miles before I could stop him." Hall said that he was going "flat out' in order to get to the races in time. The magistrate, Mr. F. H. Leyien, S.M., fined Hall £5, and cancelled his licence for a period of three montns.
