THE OVERSEAS LEAGUE
DEFENCE AND MIGRATION A plea for the support of whatever Government was in power in the matter of defence was made by the president, Mr. F. 0. V. Acheson, speaking at the annual meeting of the Overseas League last night. Ho said this was particularly important at present, and could not be neglected because of tho country's isolated position. Other speakers mentioned the need for an encouragement of migration to New Zealand. Officers wore elected as follows President, Mr. F. O. V. Acheson; honorary vice-presidents, Hon. J. Alexander, Messrs. J. M. Melville, F. E. de Lange, and Dr. O. E. Maguirof vicepresidents, Miss A. Sutton, Mr. W. Laird Thomson; executive, Mrs. I. F. Martin, Mrs. M. Schmidt, Mr. E. C. Duncan; treasurer, Mr. B. de Lange.
