SWIMMING BATH PLANS [by telegraph —OWN correspondent] TE KUITI, Wednesday Plans for swimming baths to cost £2020 for materials, insurance and supervision were received at a meeting of the Te Kuiti Borough Council. Labour is estimated to cost £960 and a grant of up to £llO is available for this from the Government The construction of baths being given preference over water and streets proposals was strongly opposed by Mr. Dobson, but it was decided to proceed with a Joan for the purpose by five votes to four. Loans Board sanction to raiso the money without a poll was received. The Water Supply Improvement Requisition was received and will be considered at a special meeting. It requires the council to proceed with the scheme of the engineer, Mr. B. J. Drake, but provides that it 6hall not be required to raise more than £30,000 on the work. , _ x Advice was received from the State Advances Corporation that it had decided to offer the council for its £SOOO streets loan a sum of £IOOO, at per cent, on a 10-year amortisation table.
