| LATE JUDGE'S PGSITION PENDING APPOINTMENT [from our own correspondent] CANBERRA, Feb. 10 The Federal Government.will appoint a Chief Judge to the Federal Arbitration Court in succession to the late Judge Dethridge within the next two weeks, Mr. Justice Cantor, a member of the New South Wales Industrial Commission, is regarded as likely to fill the vacancy. It is stated in official circles that in making the appointment the Government may make important proposals to clarify and make more flexible the conditions under which the Arbitration Court operates. The Court Ms frequently been criticised on the grounds that it is not as accessible as State Arbitration Courts.

Mr. Justice Maurice Emanuel Cantor was born in Melbourne in 1887 and was appointed \to the Bench in December, 1927.
