CHILDREN'S PARTY
"AUCKLAND WELSH SOCIETY CONCERT BY YOUNG ARTISTS Paper caps, balloons and fancy costumes were much in evidence at the Pen women's Club rooms last night, when the Auckland Welsh Society held a children's party. During the evening each child received a gift from the secretary, Air. Carey Williams, who was dressed in the traditional red costume of Santa Claus. An entertaining concert programme, which had been arranged bv Aladr.rae Annetta Stock, was presented, the performers being children. A song and dance item was given by Ailsa Peach and Daphne Roberts, with chorus accompaniment, and a number of children danced a minuet. A display of character dancing was given by Dawn Beli and Noel Alathieson, and duets were sung by Joyce and Frank Green. Elocutionary items were contributed by Patricia Norman. Frances Thomas and Barry Hutton. The president, Mr. T. Price, conducted the programme. A pageant of nations ended the concert entertainment, each child being dressed in national costume. National music was played as each character entered, and a song or dance typical of the country was presented. Those taking part were: —Daphne Roberts (Britannia), Frank Green (England), Joy Stormont (Wales), Joy Stevens (Scotland), Valerie Stitchener and Eileen Newbokl (Ireland), Alarion Jackson (New Zealand), Joyce Sutcliffo (Australia), June Woodhams (Canada). Ailsa Peach (France), Anita Heath and Essie Bell (United States), Ann Simonds (Egypt), Joan Ogilvie (S»vit~ zerland), Alerle Miller and Yeonne Foster (Holland), Noel Alathieson (Russia), Fav Helmbrecht (Italy), Lois O'Callaghan and June Stormont (Spain), Philip Jackson (Japan), Leslie Wright (China), Joan ackson (Hawaii), Dawn Foster (Germany). The committee who arranged the party comprised Air. T. Price (president), Nurse Saunders-Jones, Airs. Carey Williams (vice-presidents), Air. Carey Williams (secretary), Airs. T. Stoodley, Airs. AI. Kinley, Airs. W. Lloyd, and Aliss- B. Alorris.
