LIST or ACCEPTANCES OWNERS' GOOD RESPONSE FOURTEEN LEFT IN HANDICAP Acceptances for the Waikato Trotting Club's Spring Meeting at Claudelands on Saturday aro as follows: —

MR. E. TATLOW IN AUCKLAND INTERESTING AMERICAN TRIP After an extended visit to America, the Tasnianian trotting owner and breeder, Mr. Edgar Tatlow, arrived in Auckland by the Mariposa yesterday. Owner of the Derby Lodge Stud, Hagley, Tasmania, Mr. Tatlow lost no opportunity while away of seeing the best pacers and trotters in America in action and he was present at the six days Grand Circuit meeting at Lexington in September, when fresh world's records wero returned. •The meeting was the greatest in trotting history, and the mile clay track nt Lexington was at its best, records being made each day. The outstanding features were the sensational mile performances against time tiy the pacer Billy Direct, who .went 1.55, ,and> by. the the trotter. Greyhound, who .recorded 1.55 1-5. It was an unfortunate incident at the start of the Free-for-All Race, that decided Y. Fleming, trainer of Billy Direct, to go for a record. As the race started, Billy Direct was off his legs and the starter rang the recall bell, but two horses, Little Pat and Jane Azoff, continued on their way, Little Pat scoring in 1.585, a race record for geldings. Fleming protested, but the judges de- j clared the heat must stand, and, as Billy Direct was distanced for not going the mile, he was unable to compete in the remaining heats. Fleming then announced his intention of attempting the inilo record. After warming up with a mile in 2.10, Billy Direct was joined bv two galloping pacemakers m harness, to make new figures of 1.55. Billy Direct, who went free-legged, and his trainer were given a wonderful reception. It was the following day that Greyhound.trotted his great mile, with soz. shoes in front and 4oz. behind, with rim leathers fitted in front only. Concering the'proposal that had beenmade to bring Greyhound to New Zealand, Mr. Tatlow expressed the opinion that if brought to New Zealand, the trotter would not hold his form and the sum asked by his connections was out of all proportion to his value to the sport here. . While in America Mr. Tatlow purchased the double-gaited stallion Bnidor, who lias a pacing record of 1.594 and a trotting record of 2.1 J. Haider is bred in the purple, being by Peter Volo, from Nelda Dillon, by Dillon Axworthy. 11 aider will be at the services of breeders in Tasmania, .where for in any years the famous Globe Derby held sway for Mr. Tatlow. Raider is expected to arrive on December 5 bv the Port Auckland. If he has travelled well, lie will be transhipped to Australia; otherwise ho will go into quarantine here and proceed later. Mr. Tatlow will remain in Auckland, pending the horse's, arrival. . 3lr. Tatlow yesterday visited F. J. Smith's establishment at Talcanini, where his fine pacer, Van Derby, by Globo Derby, from Roselawn, dam of Lawn Derby, is located. MAY NOT START TO-DAY • J .[ V - y- : • " «■ . t . « 5 LOGAN DERBY INDISPOSED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] DUNEPIN. Friday , Logan Derby contracted an,internal trouble after 'winning the President s Handicap and he nifty not appear tomorrow. , ... His owner would have required little temptation to send his horse against a. track record if conditions had been favourable.
