RESCUED FROM RIVER
CHILD NEARLY DROWNED TECHNICAL BOYS' PROMPTITUDE [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Wednesday The prompt action of two Hamilton Technical High School boys, Theo Cubis and John Irwin, was responsible for saving Edward George Morgan, aged seven, the son of Mr. E. W. Morgan, of Peachgrove Road, Claudelands, from drowning yesterday afternoon. The two boys were passing over tho Waikato River railway bridge when they heard Morgan's cries. They turned back and hurried along the river path until they came to Morgan, who was some distance away downstream from the bridgo. He was in the river and was holding on to some vegetation. Tho boys cumbed down the precipitous bank and rescued Morgan. It is doubtful if he would have been able to pull himself out of the river and reach the path unaided. * Morgan had been playing with other boys and had slipped down tho bank into the river. Ho soon recovered from the effects of his immersion.
