VAUXHALL SCHOOL MANY ORIGINAL COSTUMES PRESENTATION OF PRIZES

An Indian with bis squaw, fairies partnered by pirates, Columbines with pierrots, and dainty old-fashioned Englisli girls with dashing soldiers, made a colourful sight at the Beating Club. Bavswater, on .Saturday night, when the \ uuxhall School annual fancy dross ball was held. The guests were received by the wife of the chairman of the school committee, .Mrs H. H. Watkins, who wore a Jrock of clover red eloquo. A delightful programme of grand marches and folk dances by the various primers and classes was arranged by the headmaster, Mr E. J. .Newland, and his start. Of particular interest were the Brighton Camp, Gay Gordons, "1 Sec You," aud the Scilenger's .Round dances.

During the evening, the prizes for the annual cross-country race were presented by Mr. H. H. Watkins. The winner of the senior miniature cup was Colin Gully, and the junior cup was won by Bob Gillies. Members of the ladies' committee in charge of the supper arrangements comprised:—Mrs. .J. McKenzie, Mrs. G. M Camplin, Mrs. G. M. Tilston, Mrs •(. H Price, Mrs. E. I'. Titchener, Mrs. A. K. Clyde and Mrs. L. H. Brookes.
