Oratory sprinted five furlongs in 1.4 2-5, tho last three in 38 3-ss, this being the best of the morning. Laughing Lass had Surmount as companion for live furlongs, which they were not troubled to run in 1.5 2-5, taking 38 l-5s for the last three. Lt was a good gallop, for with 15. H. Morris on Laughing Lass and W. J. .Broughton on Surmount they carried much more weight than Oratory, who was ridden by the stable apprentice 1). Redstone. 'Daniel Defoe (L. G. -Morris) began two lengths ahead of Ecstatic (Lillcy) for three furlongs, and he was halt a length to the good at the post in 38 4-iJs. Quadroon (Bowden), in a working gallop over a mile and a-quartor, took 1.55 3-5 for the last mile. Snigger (J. Pratt) shaded Titter (G.'Pratt) at the end of half a mile in 525. the last quarter in 25 4-ss. Merryman (liowden) registered 51 3-ss. The Buzzer and The Bigot Silver River (K. Breuer) beat Prediction (.1. Chaplin) over live furlongs in 1.6, the last three taking 39 l-ss. The Buzzer (Redstone) and The Bigot (Johnstone) ran six turlongs easily in 1.20. They are improving. Caperbridge (S. Anderson), by Foxbridge, and La Coquette (Johnstone), by Beau L'erc, sprinted two furlongs in 25 3-ss. Tlicy are stylish two-year-olds. The Nightmareh—Kihniss gelding (L. G. Morris) and Tidal Gift (Broughton), from a barrier start, took IDs for three furlongs. Tailliglit (Anderson) finished in front of Rarotouga (Chaplin) over a mile, the last seven furlongs in 1.35 1-5. Both Went well. White Gold (W. JO. Pine) beat Lady Ina (J. Leach) over five furlongs in 1.7 3-5. White Gold went particularly well. Mr. T. H. Lowry's horses are expected to race at Trentham and Riccarton. Chere Amie Beats Cuddler Chere Amie (Chaplin) was clear of Cuddler (Breuer) at the end of five furlongs in 1.6 3-5, the last three in 40s. Classfonn (Broughton) and Aurora's Star (Anderson) finished three furlongs together in 395. Vadanoe did well to beat Copy Cat over five furlongs in 1.6, the last three in 395. Beaupartir (Johnstone) beat Thrasos in 1.5 4-5. the last three in 39 3-ss, and Beaupartir was going very easily. The Drama filly (Anderson), Newbury Queen, by Lackham —Mercian Queen (L. G. Morris) and the Barbacan filly (Broughton) went away from a barrier start, the Lackham filly beginning brilliantly. They ran two furlongs and wore being steadied at the finish to record 26 3-ss. Pango (W. J. McDowell), Rolling Homo (W. E. Pine) and Three Star (N. C. Trillo) schooled over four fences, Pango and Polling Home jumping fast. Hanover lias been* turned out. Interest in the mooting has quickened by the appearance of several recent arrivals, which include Llangollen. King Silver. Air Commodore, Spenrfonl and Cheval do Voice. Most of the visitors and local horses were out working this morning. Llangollen was restricted to a couple of easy rounds. Miss Tidal completed pace work with four furlongs in 545. Tahiti, a maiden three-year-old by Lord Quex, in J. Spinks' stable, was allotted pace'work. He is to compote on the second day. Air Commodore, a recent winner at Gisborne, worked with a great deal of dash over two rounds. Ho schooled well on Monday morning. Spearford, who has not galloped since arriving on Thursday, did two solid rounds.

Gold Van Is, looking 11011 c tho worse for his Avonclale efforts, was worked on tho load. Macreana, who appears to havo thrown off reeent soreness, worked freely. Tho maidens To Monoplane and Forlorn were given pace work, tho latter sprinting a couple of furlongs, in 265. Bells of 13ow has been working usefully and is showing improved condition. 1 Wasp (lato Luleen) recently won a point-to-point event at Cambridge. Ho has been working solidly under his owner's care and recently gavo an impressive display over tho steeplechaso fences.

Chikara and King Silver were schooled over four hurdles. Both gave a good display. King Silver continued on his own and jumped two steeplechaso fences well.

RACING ASSOCIATION ELECTION OF OFFICERS Tho opinion that tho cxistenco of the New Zealand Pacing Owners, Trainers and Breeders' Association was justified was expressed by the president, Dr. E. H. B. Milsom, at tho annual meeting of members of tho Auckland branch last ovonjng. Tho tactful manner in which tho Canterbury branch had completed negotiations with the Stable Hands' Union and tho satisfactory arrangements of transport affairs wero matters for congratulation. lleferenco was made to tho support given by many clubs in tho Dominion to tho Gaming Act amendment petition now in circulation. A select committee was appointed to formulato a scheme to submit to racing clubs in the Auckland for tho handling of tho petition. Mr. A. H. Long paid a tribute to tho work of tho president, secretary and executive committee and congratulated all concerned on the progress shown in the brief period the organisation was in cxistenco.
