HASTINGS HORSES

PLAPIE AND LOVELILT MASTER CYKLON FOR NORTH „ ' _ MITCHELSON CUP RUNNER [ilY TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT] HASTINGS, Tuesday Interesting work was performed this morning on tho Hastings tracks, when many of the horses engaged at tho liawko's Bay Spring Sleeting next week were run along. Tho tracks wore in lino order. Lama Taslia and Nora G rigor ran easy half-miles. Tho latter has done well since winning her heat at tho matinee meeting last week, the outing having benefited her appreciably. Imogen was allowed to run three furlongs comfortably in 12s. Brunhilde, in company with Thala, was given a strong working gallop over live furlongs in 1.0 2-5. Thala appears to have thrown off tho soreness., that affected her at Wanganui, while Brunhildo is working bettor than ever. Master Cyklon worked on the plough mid took 1.34 2-5 for seven furlongs. He is to go to Auckland for the Mitchelson Cup, although his connections are of the opinion that ho has been weighted right up to his very best form. Red Cockade and Royal Minstrel did fairly well to run six furlongs in 1.19. T hey also used the plough and Royal .Minstrel was going the better. However, Red Cockade is ,an improver. Royal Ace Improving Kalika and Earl's Court took 55s for four furlongs, neither being at top. Gaiwind and Royal Ace. were a couple of lengths clear of Lady Stella at tho end of six furlongs in 1.20. Royal Ace is on the improve and should not be long in the novice class. Diana Tctrix, who appears to be doing very well, ran an easy five furlongs. Slu? looks like being very useful this season A fair gallop was registered by Golden Melody and Hunting Moments, who ran four furlongs in 51s, time as good as any of the morning. l Arabic, Gay Laura and Chequers were in elos»> order at the end of five furlongs in 1.0 2-5. Arabic is making improvement. Cullus, under a good hold, registered tho same time. Endorsement and Sleeveless wero hard held early while running three furlongs in <l2s, although tlicy were allowed to come home the last furlong at top. Sleeveless stretched out in appealing style. Morning Flight held a very slight advantage over Mesurina at the : end of five furlongs in 1.4; tho best of the morning for the distance. Racing has had a beneficial effect on Morning Flight, who has become more solid. Myology, the filly by Myosotis— Lady Desmond, dashed over three furlongs with Bambinn in 38s. Myology appears to go better each time she gallops. Padishah and Buster BrownLaughing Song, who was slightly injured just after the jump-off last week at the matinee meeting, did an easy three furlongs in 445. She still shows slight elfects of the mishap but has never been a good walker. Padishah and Buster Brown covered a mile in 1.46. Both came home very strongly and impressed. Red llufus and Hamarin, on the plough, did well to record 1.19 for six furlongs. Lady Grey and the Defoe—Bonny Valo filly were under restraint while running threo furlongs in 425. Pladie. working more generously than usual, and Lovelilt did tho best six furlongs of the morning in 1.18. Lovelilt is an improver. Shani and Fossicker," after going very fast over the first two; were eased to complete five furlongs in' 1.4 3-5. Both are well and should bo heard of next week. The Dissertation filly Madonna and City Song easily ran three furlongs in 41s". Although not very big. Madonna is ,a beautifully turned filly who should make good. She is being trained by T, F. Qninlivan. Coil and Master Hector took 1.52 2-5 for a mile. Tho time was nothing to enthuse over, although average for jumpers. Solid Seven Furlongs In spite of the fact that they were ridden out, Tres Sec and Refulgent went well to run seven furlongs in 1.32. The. Lord Quex—Enchantment colt, Classical, and, Smooger took 51s for half :i mile, equal to tho best over the distance. Tho first-named was always) going best and has every appearaneo of developing into a topliner. Laggard (Dooley), Boat Song (A. Tinsley) and Thrasher (Zuppicich) wero associated over a round of the schooling fences to finish in lino with tho whips out. Laggard jumped best. Agog (XV. Tricklebank) made no mistakes whilo jumping three schooling hurdles.
