WANGANUI RESTAURANTS EFFECT OF INCREASED COSTS [nv TELEGRAPH —OWN COltltKSl'ONdicnt] WAN O A NUT, Friday A general increase in tlio price of meals in Wanganui restaurants has resulted from the increased wages payable to waitresses and kitchen hands and the general riso in overhead costs. A three-course dinner will now cost Is 9d and ft two-course meal Is Gd. Some restaurants will also charge threepence extra if tea is served with meals. One dining room proprietor said the increase in charges was made reluctantly, but the advance had been made necessarv bv higher costs and wages. Prices of foodstuffs had increased during the vear, and, after all expenses luicl been paid, there was little margin of profit. A further increase m the price of meat was expected next week.
