PRECAUTIONS AT POKENO [from our own correspondent] POKENO, Tuesday Following a recent serious accident on the Great | South Road at Pokeno, when a Public Works employee was knocked down by a passing car, the Franklin County Council has decided to accede to a request from the department's officers that three strut lights be installed, and application will made for the erection of _3O-miles-an-hour speed restriction signs in tlie township. The chairman, Mr. J. N. Mossey. stated that there had been several minor and one serious accident on tho Great South Road at Pokeno recently. With the large Public Works camp just out of the township, tho number of pedestrians on the main road had increased- considerably. The council decided to contribute £75 toward the cost of a footpath through -the township, also suggested by the department.
