SONG RECITAL

WELL-VARIED PROGRAMME A pleasing performance was given by thoT young Auckland baritone Mr. Stewart Harvey at a recital in the Lewis Eady Hall last night. Mr. Harvey was assisted by Miss Meryl Harvey, soprano, and Mr. Alan Pow, pianist. Mr. Harvgy's numbers were well varied and ranged from the well-known group of. songs "Indian Love Lyrics," by Amy Woodforde-Finden, to numbers from Italian opera. Mr. Harvey gave true dramatic feeling to tlxo prologue to Leoncavallo's "I Pagliacci," while the intense feeling of Schubert's "Erl King" was not missing in his rendering. Jn addition to two 6olos from Verdi's "Bigoletto" he was heard with Miss Harvey in duets by the same composer. Miss Harvey's attractive soprano voice was heard to good effect in "Damon," by Max Stange. and "Mimi's Farewell," from "La Bolieme," by Puc6iivij and Mr. Pow played pieces by Chopin, MacDowell and Grieg with fino taste and finished execution.
