AUCKLAND CONTRACTS FURTHER LAND ACQUIRED [by TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Friday Further housing construction contracts will shortly bo commenced in Auckland, according to advice received by local members of Parliament from the Parliamentary Under-Secretary in charge of Housing, Mr. J. A. Lee. Mr. W. P. Endean, M.P. for Parnell, has been advised by Mr. Lee that Cabinet approval has been received for tho purchase of building sections in Bay Itoad, St. Helicrs, sufficient for two houses, in Towai Street, adjoining tho southern boundary of St.. Helicrs, sufficient for 10 houses, and in Maungarei Itoad, Itemuera, sufficient lor one house. The acceptance of the tender of Mr. V. E. Haughey for the erection of six single-house units at Avondale has been notified to tho Attorney-General, the Hon. H. G. It. Mason, in his capacity as member for Auckland Suburbs. Mr. Leo has also informed Mr. Mason that tho tender of Mr. H. J. Hulsc has been accepted for tho erection of six singlehouse units and ono two-house unit at New Lynn., Tho work on these contracts will bo commenced shortly. TAURANGA ACTIVITY TENDERS BEING CALLED - TAURANGA, Friday Tho Under-Secretary in chargo of Housing, Mr. J. A. Lee; has advised Mr. C. H. Burnett, M.P., that the State housing activity at Tauranga is to be extended. Tenders for an additional ten houses are now being called.
