SHEEP KILLED
DOGS CAUSE HAVOC MANY OTHERS INJURED EAST COAST FARMER'S LOSS [by, telegraph —OWN correspondent] OPOTIKI, Friday A serious case of sheep worrying lias been reported from the station of Mr. Guy Francis, at Little Awanui, on the Opotiki coastal highway. It was discovered yesterday that dogs had passed right through a mob. The hills and gullies presented a pitiful sight, with dead and injured sheep lying about everywhere. In one gully 10 sheep lay dead. Altogether about 40 sheep were found dead, the bodies being extensively injured. The number of sheep worried but alive is not known, but is substantial. Mr. Francis had sold some of his dairy herd and had bought 200 sheep, including breeding ewes. He will be a particularly heavy loser. Two dogs were seen making off the property, but have not yet been traced.
