AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS FOG-ENSHROUDED GROUND DELAY IN' starting play (Received August 9, 12.55 a.m.) LONDON, August 8 The Australian cricketers were today to commence a two-day match against Durham at Sunderland. The Durham team is as follows: — D. Townsend, J. Adamson, D. Glen, A. Austin, f. Collin, A. Parnaby, J. Beresford, W. Barron, J. Grigor, F. Herbert, J. Carr. The Australians omitted Bradman, Barnett, Chipperfield, Ward arid Fingleton, the last-named acting aa 12th man. Fog shrouded the ground and the pavilion was invisible from the opposite side of the wicket and barely discernible from the boundary, delaying the start.
ATTACK OF APPENDICITIS CHIPPERFIELD'S OPERATION. (Received August 8. 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, August 8 The Australian A. G. Chipperfield underwent an operation for - appendicitis on Friday, and is now recovering, says the Dundee correspondent of the Exchange Telegraph Company.
