GARAGE HOURS

Sir, — Keferring to the complaints regarding motorists not being al>lo to buy petrol alter 9 p.m., I would like to remind the Automobile Association that as the average car has a range of i?(K) miles on a tnnk full of petrol surely the motorist's own common sense would suggest that he fills up before the service stations shut. I do not see any reason why garages and service stations should be allowed to keep open for 15 hours a daV and days a year when butchers, bakers, grocers, drapers and all other businesses have a 10 or 44hour week. As petrol is not a perishable commodity there is no reason why the motorist should not make provision for the week-end the same as the housewife does in regard to her provisions. Sf.NDAVS FREK.
