HATS ON IN THE LIFT

Sir, —May 1, through your paper, tender my thanks to the firm in Queen Street that has had the courage to post notices in all their elevators requesting men to keep their hats on. Heing a city traveller and using elevators often, J have had my hat crushed on several occasions and have felt like holding it above my head to save it. There is another reason. In the summer one is expected to take one's hat off while being very hot and get the full blast of a fan and a subsequent chill. Only a few days ago, 1 stepped into an elevator with a lady and gentleman (presumably her husband). I took my hat off, he did not. However, let's hope that after getting a lead, we men will act up to the above request. Kk form.
