SURF LIFE-SAVERS
AUSTRALIANS TO TOUR VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND SYDNEY, July 6 Sixteen Australian surf life-savers and a manager will visit New Zealand for the centenary championships in 1940. An invitation extended by Mr. Ingram, secretary of the New Zealand Surf Life-Saving Association has been accepted. The cost of the visit will be borne by New Zealand. The team will compete in the national centenary championships at Wellington in February, and will then make a tour of the Dominion. Instructional classes will bo held on North and South Island beaches.
Tho tour has been arranged as a return gesture for the hospitality extended to the New Zealand surf lifesaving team which visited Sydney to compete in tho championship carnival held at the time of tho Sydney sesquicentenary celebrations. Definite arrangements for tho programme of the visiting team have not yet been made.
