STREET NAMES PROBLEM OVERCOMING DUPLICATION "If wo are going to change the names of our streets, we should cooperate with the postal authorities and with all the other local bodies," said Mr. C. V. Holyoake when the question of the duplication of street names came before the meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council last night. Mr. Holyoake advocated that, rather than have only a few of the names changed, the matter should be gone into thoroughly. The question was referred back to the Works Committee, with a recommendation that the Post and Telegraph Department should be asked to furnish a full report. Permission was granted to the Auckland Orphanages Advisory Council to hold a street collection in Takapuna on July 29. 70 per cent of the proceeds to go to the advisory council and the remainder to the Society for the Protection of Wornon and Children.
The Mayor, Air. J. Guiniven, and Mr. T. M. Rollo, were appointed to represent the council at the meeting convened by the Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis, to be held this evening to discuss the incidence of the increased hospital levy.
