SPANISH GOVERNMENT PAYMENT IN BULLION DESPATCH THROUGH FRANCE (Received May 22, G. 25 p.m.) , PERPIGNAN, May 21 Nearly 200 tons of gold and silver bars are being taken to Havre by road from Barcelona. The loader of the convoy states that it will be shipped to America in payment for purchases made by the Spanish Republican Government. GOLD SHIPMENTS ARRIVAL IN CANADA SECRECY MAINTAINED OTTAWA, May 20 Secrecy continues to surround the arrival in Canada from Paris of cold shipments, the value of which has reached a total of 100,000,000 dollars. It is believed that the gold is either for the British purchase ,of Canadianmade aeroplanes or for French purchases of munitions from the United j States. ;
VESSEL RELEASED NO MUNITIONS CARRIED GIBRALTAR,' May 20 An official examination of tho cargo of the Stancroft, the British vessel which was stopp6d by a British destroyer on the high seas between Valencia and Barcelona' on May 13 on suspicion of smuggling arms to Spain, revealed that there were no munitions on board.
