TRUSSED WITH STRAPS
RADIO- OPERATOR'S DEATH , GERMAN LINER TRAGEDY CAPETOWN, April 10 An inquest into the death of Johannes Stoldt, wireless operator on the German liner Pretoria, 16,662 tons, showed that he was found trussed with straps.and sitting in a locked cabin. One strap acted as a ligature round Stoldt's neck and his arms were pinioned to his sides. His left hand grasped a strap which tightened the others. A doctor said that Stoldt was unable to release himself unless the straps broke, as ho could not command the keystrap. The tying was too intricate to be' merely fortuitous. A brotherofficer said that Stoldt was very superstitious.
