(TOYS BOUGHT AT SLOUGH . , ■ ——— SHOP ASSISTANT'S SURPRISE LONDON, April 20 A ithop assistant, Florence Short, aged 29, was greatly surprised when she realised that a customer to whom she had been selling sixpenny, toys in a shop at Slough, Buckinghamshire, was tlx* D uchess of Kent. tjtxe . girl was busy serving another customer when the Duchess camo to the counter, and thought, when she first glanced at her, that she( looked like the Duchess. Then another girl said: "Look, is not that lady* like the Duchess?" "She pointed to a toy windmill nnd asked me to wrap it up, and then bought a pair of quoit rings and a kite," said Florence. "She spent Is 2d with me." The Duchess spent half an hour in the store and visited the food and haberdashery counters. She had to wait on the pavement until her car, which was held up by the holiday traffic pulled into the kerb.
