Saturday Going awav well, Vanora took up the running m the Fitzroy Handicap. In the straight, he skipped but did not surrender the lead, winning by two lengths from Bonny Pointer,' who shaded Terraplane by a neck, with Worthy Quest almost in line, fourth. Taking the initiative at the end of half a mile, Tone© von the Waitara Handicap comfortably, but Canadian, after getting a good position, broke along the hack and Unworthy, who was making a good effort, left her feet. Canadian outstayed Flash Bye for second; Unworthy and Frontier Boy were next.

Transwell was first choice for the Urenui Handicap and although he was S'ven some trouble by the consistent yrtle Oro to the turn, the northern candidate cleared away to score very easily. Travisque, who 'was in the lead for a time, was third, two lengths behind Myrtle Oro. Storm Signal and l'hree Bells were not far away. Policy justified the confidence of many supporters by winning the Taranaki Trotting Cup in fine style, but she was set a stiff task to hold" off Our War. The latter made a determined effort in the straight and Policy skipped, losing a little ground. Settling down, she responded gamely to win by a little over a length. Ace Pot was third, ahead of Treasure Bond; Red Frontier and SaVoldi. Another favourite, Purina, won the Moturoa Handicap decisively in 3.24, equalling her Awapuni record for a mile and a-half. The runner-up, "Vanora, who was penalised 36 yards, got to within a length of her. Acceleration was a head away, third, succeeded by Juliana, Marcus and Kia Kaha. Tonee, penalised 30 yards for his earlier win, scored well in the Inglewood Handicap, to make the sixth successive favourite to salute the judge. Reception made a good effort, biut Tonee carried too much speed and won by six lengths. Unworthy shaded Flash Bve for third money and Autumn Lu, who broke up early, was next.

The run of favourites ended when Our. Summer won the Omata Handicap, to return close on double figures and to give G. C. Young his first success in New Zealand. Royal Grattan finished fast to out Adversity out of third place. Myrtle Oro and Worthy Need, who broke when well-placed, were next.

Just as Hearsay was being heralded the winner, Savoldi, driven by A. Holmes, made one of his,f few sensational efforts to win, the Farewell Handicap. Aco Pot finished fast to be a head away, third, with Guymond right up. Then came Red Frontier, Bonnie Direct and Winaway.
