BEST YOUNG PACER ACHIEVEMENT OF SUPERTAX [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday There was a great finish to the New Zealand Futurity Stakes, necks separating Horse Power, Brtyatd and Sandusky. Sandusky and Bayard were the quickest to bogiu, but the latter was eased, Perula and Sandusky carrying on the running from Bayard, Parauri, Rerekohua and King's- Jubilee. Rounding the top turn. Horse Power made a for- : ward move and before the straight was entered he was in front from Perula and Sandusky. In the face of hot challenges from Sandusky and Bayard, Horse Power had to be hard-driven to score from Bayard. Sandusky was third, followed by Parauri, Waikari Jack and Rerekohua. It marked Horse Power's fourth classic win.

The best field ever got together at Ashburton paraded for the Inter-State Handicap and it provided a sterling race, with an outstanding performance by Supertax. The field was bunched half a mile from home, where Speedy Boy was hotly pursued by Morello, Nervie's Last, Rocks Ahead and Plutus. Morello raced to the lead in the straight and appeared a likely winner, but under pressure he tangled and Supertax, with a great run, went on to win by a length and a-half from Parisienne, who made up a deal of ground in the straight. Lucky .Tnrk was third, followed by Rocks Ahead, Cloudy Range, Satin King, Willow Wave and Nervie'a Parisienne's effort was sensational, for half a mile from home she was nearer last than first. Joy's John broke it the start and the air after travelling a furlong.
