OBITUARY

MR. G. E. G. FOOTE The death occurred on Saturday of Mr. George Edward Gibbons Foote at. his residence, Trafalgar Street, Oneliunga, in his 69th year. He was the sixth son of the late Captain William Foote, who reached New Zealand from Newfoundland and established a sawmill at Pararaha, near the Mantikau VHeads, 7;i years ago. Mr. foote was born in Grey Street, Onehunga, and after leaving school went into his father's mill, where he gained experience in the timber trade. The kauri forest at the Mnnukau Heads becoming exhausted, Mr. Foote and his brothers spent several years in the Whangarei district as bush contractors, and later Mr. Foote became manager for the Mitchelson Timber Company at Herekino. He retired 32 years ago and had lived at Epsom and Onehunga since. He was one of the oldest members pf the Onehunga Bowling Club, and reference to his death was made on the green on Saturday by the president. The death has occured at her home at Manurewa of Mrs. Isabella Sexton, wife of Mr. C. H. Sexton, at the age of 72. Mrs. Sexton was borji in Victoria Street. Auckland, on April 7, ]866, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. .John Munro. Mr. Munro, who arrived in Auckland in the late 1850's, came from Thurso, in the north of Scotland, his, wife being n native of Wick, in Caithness, Scotland. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Sexton lived for about 20 years on the Great North Road, Grev Lynn, moving to Mount Albert in 1911. Since 1935 their home has been at Manurewa. Although she was only four years old at the time, Mrs. Sexton had a clear recollection of a communal well in the backyard of her parents' home in Victoria Street. When she was living on the Great North Road, the neighbouring country was open, and pheasants were often seen. Mrs. Sexton is survived by her husband, two daughters and a son. Mr. A. 0. A.
