EPIPHANY CHURCH
ORGAN DEDICATED SPECIAL SACRED RECITAL Devotional music by world-famous composers was rendered most impressively at Epiphany Church, Karangahape Road, last evening, when the newly-installed electric organ was dedicated. The service was conducted by the Rev. Jasper Calder, who was also the preacher, while his son, Mr. D. Calder, was the organist. After the dedication of the organ a sacred recital followed, the numbers being rendered by the choir. The music, ancient and modern, was sung sympathetically by the choir, which was greatly assisted by the volume and beautiful tone of the new organ. The new instrument supplies a need which has existed since the destruction by fire several years ago of the original
organ. The service was attended by a large congregation, which filled the church to capacity, many being obliged to stand in the aisles and porches. The following choral works were rendered: —"Gloria," from "Twelfth Mass" (Mozart); "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" (Bach); "Rock of Ages" (Buck); "In a Monastery Garden" (Ketelby); "Droop, Sacred Head" (Maunder); "As Pants the Hart" (Spohr).
