QUEENSLAND ELECTION
LABOUR GAINS SEAT LOSS TO COUNTRY PARTY (Received April 8, 7.30 p.m.) BRISBANE, April 8 Tlie completion of tho counting of votes for tho last doubtful seat in the general election gave the Government a striking victory in the former Country Party stronghold of Dnlb.y, held since 1909 by Mr. Godfrey Morgan, who was Minister of Railways in the Moore Government of 1929-32. The contest for this seat was most exciting, the Labour candidate winning by 43 votes.
The state of the parties is now:— Labour, 44 seats (last election 46); Opposition, 18 (1(3), including one Protestant Labour member. <■
