SANDERS CUP

Sir,—lt is indeed gratifying to read of the intense enthusiasm shown by the crowd whc witnessed the last contest at Dunedin. When one considers the scope for small boat sailing encouraged by the various Auckland yacht clubs, it is difficult for the small Southern centres to understand the displayed by Auckland in its lukewarm attitude in fostering the one-design class. It has been said that Auckland is one of the largest yachting centres in existence. This being so, it is the duty of those contrdlling the sport to keep faith with the smaller Southern centres (less fortunate in harbours) to give them the encouragement they deserve.
