TUITION IN SWIMMING
Sir f —"Mater" confesses uncertainty as to whom to thank for the recent swimming campaign. I would suggest that she content herself with rendering thanks to those who did the work, in this case, the staff of the Northcote District High School, under "the capable direction of a prominent professor of swimming. For some years past this school has paid particular attention to swimming, so much so, that at the commencement of the "Learn to Swim Week," by far the greater majority could swim. And the good work is still being carried on during these hot February afternoons. Every day in the week, swimming classes are held at Hall's Beach, Northcote, and Hinemoa Park, Birkenhead, three classes of pupils receiving instruction under their enthusiastic teachers, i.e., learners, improvers and swimmers. Fortunately four of my own children can swim, and the babv is learning, and I, too, with "mater," express my grateful thanks to those who are doing the work, the staff of the Northcote District High School. Father,
