SAMOAN DEPUTATION

GOODWILL TO GOVERNMENT MR. SAVAGE'S EXPECTATION [by TELEGRAM —MESS ASSOCIATION] . WELLINGTON, Wednesday Assurances of goodwill to the New Zealand Government from the Samoans will be brought by the Samoan deputation which will arrive at Auckland on Friday on the Monterey to place several matters before the Prime Minister, the Bt. Hon. M. J. Savage. This was indicated by Mr. Savage in an interview to-night. "The members of the deputation are mainly coming here to assure us of their goodwill," Mr. Savage said. "They also want to discuss their affairs with us, of course, but if they were not bringing tlioso assurances of goodwill to us it would be contrary to all they have said in the past." It is likely that after the deputation has placed the major items it wishes to deal with before the Prime Minister, the discussions on the details, if they are at all protracted, will be heard by the Minister of Lands, the Hon. F. Langstone, who led the goodwill mission to Samoa and who has been deputising for the Prime Minister a good deal as acting-Minister in charge of Native Affairs. It is understood the deputation will be in Wellington on Monday.
