On the course proper Pantry and Shangri La were not bustled to run half a mile in 555. Bantry, who is looking well, was travelling strongly at the finish.

On the plough Script appeared to have something in reserve at the end of seven furlongs in 1.33, tho first half-mile taking 525.

Booklaw infused plenty of dash into his work ivhila running seven furlongs in 1.37 1-5. He should be capable of a good showing at "Waverley.

Lady Kyra was under a good pull while running live furlongs in 1.7 4-5. She strode out freely and is coming to hand nicely. The best effort of the morning was that of Dancing Lady, who ran lialf_ a mile from a standing start in 50 l-ss. Dancing Lady moved evenly and carried, out, her task in an attractive fashion.

jjon Erma and Bonny Glow were on terms at the end of five furlongs, tho last half-mile taking 53 3-ss. It was a good effort for the hurdler Don Enna, who is looking bright and well. Tahurangi, under a good hold, covered live furlongs in lrn IOJs. Winsome I»u, assisted by llacecall over the last live, ran seven furlongs in lm 335. The first two occupied 28s and the last five 1.4 4-5, and both were under a nice hold all the way. Winsome Lu's recent work has been attractive. J {ova I Dispute has thrown oil Ins soreness and will probably be taken to Cambridge at the end of the week. Sleepy strode out freely over two circuits at three-quarter pace. He is fit, but owing to the hard state of the ground, H. Dulieu has not been able to jump him lately.

HAWERA ACTIVITIES LE GRAND MUCH IMPROVED [BY TEI.KGItAI'H —OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAWERA. Tuesday Useful gallops by candidates for the Waverley meeting were recorded on the Hawera plough track, which was in good order to-day, but rain is badly needed. This spring is the driest for many years. Student Pl'incc (Ilawkes) strode over five furlongs in 1.3 2-5. He should give a good account of himself at Waverley. Fafner (Hawkes) finished slight I v ahead of Narrator (Cole) over half a mile in 50 2-ss. The iormer is still working scratch!ly and unless rain is to fall before Labour Day, his prospects are not bright. Narrator did not impress in a hall-mile task. Le Marquis (Grvlls) and Gold Glare (Cole) were not asked for their best to record 535. Neither may be quite ready at Waverley. Master Limond (Hawkes), looking none the worse for his racing at Opaki, traversed six furlongs in 1.19, being accompanied by a Sandstar mare (..Pepperill) in I!. Ihough's stable, over the last half-mile in 51 2-ss. Master Limond is to contest the Waverley Cup, and with a strong rider in the saddle, lie should be capable of a forward showing. .Friesland (Monkley) was travelling comfortably alongside Naughty Marietta (Murray) at of six furlongs in 1.18 1-5. Friesland has never worked better than at present and is assured of strong support on Monday. Me will lie ridden by the stable apprentice, L. Monklev, claiming a 71H. allowance. %

Notium (Cole) worked pleasingly over five furlongs in 1,1 2-5. Golden Orchid, who did a round at threequarter pace, is improving rapidly.

0. Cox left for Trent-ham this morning with Lowenberg, Lickem and Lord Cavendish. They are in capital order. Lord Cavendish will attract attention when paraded and he is expected to make a bold bid for victory against more experienced two-year-olds. Vadanoc (Cochrane) and Le Grand (TTooton) required 50 <l-;!3s for half a mile. Le Grand finished a head in front. He appears to be a vastly improved galloper and may be an early ■winner.
