DOCTOR RESIGNS
HOSPITAL RADIOLOGIST OTHER STAFF CHANGES The resignation of Dr. W. W. Main from the position of radiologist at the Auckland Hospital was received by the Hospital Board yesterday. The chairman, the Rev. AV. C. Wood, said Dr. Main, although reluctant to sever his connection with the hospital, desired to take up private practice._ Dr. Main was appointed in April, 1935., In tendering his resignation, Dr. Main stated that circumstances had arisen which made it necessary for him to break his connection with the hospital. To prevent any possibility of misunderstanding, he hastened to state that his resignation was not due to any dissatisfaction with the board or its executive officers, with whom he had worked most amicably. In accepting the resignation with regret, the board decided to consider in committee the. possibility of appointing Dr. Main to the honorary staffr. Another resignation received was that of the assistant pathologist. Dr. Gordon Cook. In succession to Dr. A. -G. Sowter, who vacates the office of dispensary medical officer this month, the board appointed Dr. Kenneth Goison. Details of the qualifications of applicants for the position of deputy-medical superintendent were received from the High Commissioner for New, Zealand in London, Mr. AV. J. Jordan. In view of the fact that none was wholeheartedly recommended as being qualified to fill the position, it was decided to communicate with Sir Frederick Menzies, the noted English hospital administrator, to gain information as to how best a suitable appointment might bo made.
