CONTEST AT MATAMATA INTER-CLUB EVENT HELD RIDER SUFFERS CONCUSSION [by telegraph—ows correspondent] MATAMATA, Monday The Matamata Amateur Cycling Club's 35mile inter-ciub road race on Saturday attracted 32 competitors. A heavy wind impeded the riders to some extent. A Hamilton rider, B. Shaw, suffered a fractured skull when his cycle skidded and crashed into a telegraph pole on the Te Poi Road. He was taken to the Waikato Hospital and his condition is reported to be not. serious. Following were the results of the race:— H. Liddingion (Te Awamutu), 6min, 1; C. McOnie (Hamilton), 6m, 2; R. Forsyth (Hamilton), £im, 3; F. Shuter (Rotorua), 6m, 4. The fastest time was recorded by C. Cochrane. 87m 345. A special trophy for the first Matamata rider to cross the finishing line was won by H. Jagger, who obtained fifth position. EVENTS AT PUKEMIRO The Pukemiro Junction Amateur Cycling Club held an 18Vi miles A grade contest and a 10 miles B grade race in rough weather. The following were the results:— A Grade.—K. Gardner (sVim), 00m 345, 1; G. Ridley (2 l / a m), 57m 535, 2; R. McLaughlin (iy 3 m), 56m 595, 3. fastest time: A. Mclntyre and A. THAMES CLUB'S ROAD RACE [by telegraph—owx correspondent] THAMES, Monday The Thames Cycle Club's IG-mile road race on Saturday was won by S. West, who has been riding consistently this season. R. Jamieson was second, and D. Andrew, third. West gained fastest time of 46m 435. WHANCAREI EVENT [by telegraph OWN correspondent] WHAXGAREI, Monday The Whangarei Cycle Racine: Club held a 14 miles road race on Saturday. The weather was a hindrance, there being head winds and squalls. The race resulted:—D. Walker (Om), 'lsm 31s, 1; W. Buckley (3'/,m), 43m, 2; J. Byers (3Vim), 43m 0 l-ss, 3.
