CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING

TAKAPUNA GUN CLUB The Takapuna Gun Club held the opening day-bird shoot of the 1037-38 season at its club grounds, Barry's Point. Mr. J. McGregor. the president; welcomed the shooters and visitors in declaring the season open. Results were as follows: Five-birds Eye-opener.—L. F. Ramsey (18yds) and J. McGregor (14yds) shot the possible and divided the sweep money. R. L. Baxter (15yds) and L. J. Henderson (lSyiis) shot four birds each for second place.

S?ven-birds Noviro Match for R. L. Baxter's Trophy.—J. Henderson (11yds), Northcote, shot fivo birds and won tho trophy outright. F. M. Bennett (11yds), L. O. R. Segetin (11yds) and O. J. noneycombe (llyds) shot four birds each for second place; S. Haden (llyds) shot three birds. Ten-birds' Match for M. D. Morgan's Trophy.—R. L. Baxter (15yds) shot the possible and won the trophy outright. F. M. Bennett (llyds) shot eight birds. Ten-birds' Match ofT 1 tyds for L. J. Hendorson's Aggregate Trophy.—First round: L. F, Ramsey shot • tho' possible. li. J. Henderson, the donor, while not a competitor for tho trophy, shot eight birds for second sweep money. Jj, O. R. Segetin, R. L. Baxter, l'\ M. Bennett and J. Henderson, sen., Takapuna, shot seven birds each. Double Rise (five pairs).—L. F. Ramsey (10yds) won outright with eight breaks and took tho sweep money. L. J. Henderson (Itlyds) and R. L. Baxter (13yds) shot seven birds each for socond place.
